Biography

In 1792, the Tunnell family moved to Robertsville, North Carolina (which is now Tennessee). Then he moved to Knox county, Tennessee, where he married Elizabeth Johnson in 1802. They had 10 children: Matilda (married William Reagan), Susan (married unknown Johnson), Eliza (married Benjamin Bartlett Cannon(, James W, Noble J, William, Mary Louise, Harriett (married Rev William Harle), Emily Jane Mortimer, married James Wyley Harle), Nancy (married Dr James B Vaught)


Served in the War of 1812 and the Indian Wars. Appointed an Indian Agent. In 1837 he served as the Hamilton county surveyor.

After 1845, he and his wife Elizabeth had visited one of their daughters in Texas and were on their way home, when they were both killed on the state line between Arkansas & Indian Territory.

Robert was born in 1782. He passed away about 1847.
