Biography

Sarah was born in 1834. She was the daughter of William Turk and Jane Mayes. Sometime after Owen's death, Sarah either moved to Travis County, Texas or was visiting family. She did have a brother, Pliney, living in Lavaca County, Texas, in 1860. At some point, she met and married her second husband, Embre Warren Smith.

She is buried at Merrilltown Cemetery, Austin, Travis County, Texas. [note: the birth date shown above is what most family trees have; however, her death certificate shows 12 Nov 1833. The day could have been incorrect info given by informant. I believe the month and year, Nov 1833, are correct. Also, since tombstone is engraved with 1834, it cannot be changed.

Research Notes

Further research has found that the information in bio at findagrave.com memorial is incorrect. Her sister, Cynthia, could not have moved to Texas since she died in 1852 in Georgia. The only connection to Texas seems to be her brother, Pliney, who was in Texas by 1860.
