Willis B. Turk was born in New York state 18 April 1852
His middle name may be Benjamin. He appears in the 1900 & 1910 census; his widow appears in the 1920 census -- all instances of the family name as Turk though in later years his son Perry used Turke.
He married Ella Olmsted and they had five children: Charliey, George, Emma, jennie, and Perry.
He worked in the local knitting mill. Ella was a seamstress working at home.
WIllis died 1 September 1928 at Fly Creek, Otsego County, new York. he was buried there beside his wife in the Fly Creek Cemetery. [1]
Obituary
The death of Willis B. Turk, for many years a resident of Cooperstown and Otsego county occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leon Georgia, at Fly Creek, Saturday, September 1st, as the result of neuritis. Eight weeks preceding his death Mr. Turk was taken ill at Clayville and after remaining at his home there for a week came to Fly Creek where he was tenderly cared for in his daughter's home until the end.
Mr. Turk was born at Prattsville April 18, 1862, but lived there only during his childhood years. He resided at several places in Otsego connty including Milford and Portlandville and for several years, in Cooperstown. From here he went ten years ago to Clayville and had been employed continuously in the Clayville Knitting Mills until his last illness.
Surviving are the widow, who was Miss Ella Olmstead, two daughters, Mrs. Georgia, above mentioned, and Mrs. Leo Gage of Syracuse, and two sons, George of Perry, N. Y., and Perry of Rome.
The funeral was held at the home of Mrs. Georgia at Fly Creek Monday morning of last week at 10 o'clock the Rev. Dr. E. C. Petrie of Cooperstown officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery at Fly Greek.' [2]
