Obituary[1]
The people of the Hawkesbury district generally will join with us in offering deep sympathy to Mr. Joseph Aspery and his family, in the irreparable loss they have sustained. Mrs. Aspery passed away in Windsor on. the 7th inst, after about a fortnight's illness. She first had an attack of pleurisy, and pneumonia supervened. Though not what would be called a strong woman, the late Mrs. Aspery was hardy, and had a brave heart. Her maiden name was Amy Elizabeth Turnbull, the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. John Turnbull, of Sackville, where she was born 52.5 years ago. Twenty-six years ago she was married to Mr. Joseph Aspery in St. Thomas' Church, Sackville, where they lived until about 14 months ago, when the family came to Wind- sor to reside. Five children were born to them, the surviving family being Claude, Florrie and Rene, the youngest being 12 years of age. One boy died at the age of 3 years and another in infancy. The late Mrs. Aspery was a woman of kind and charitable disposition. Her chief thoughts were always for her husband and her children, but her goodness was shown outside her family circle, and she was beloved for many kindly deeds. The deceased lady's brothers and sisters are all well-known and respected Hawkesbury natives, and there are no more esteemed people in the district, than her parents. The family are Herbert (Wentworthville), George (Penrith), David T. (City Markets), Mrs. A. C. Anderson (Comleroy Road), Mrs. Moore (Annandale), Charlie J. (Sackville)., and Alfred (Sackville). The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, the remains being laid to rest in the C. E. Cemetery at Sackville. The funeral was a very large one --- said to be the largest ever seen at Sackville, many people being unable to get into the church. during the service. The burial was conducted by Rev. J. Cherry, and Mr. Chandler carried out the funeral arrangements. Many beautiful wreaths were sent by sorrowing friends, amongst them being a particularly fine one from Mr. Claude Aspery's comrades of the Windsor Cricket . Club. The club had arranged a match for Saturday last, but cried it off out of respect to their bereaved comrade.
