Rebecca Susan Turnbull was born on 25th March 1873 in Kingston, Tasmania (Australia). She was the daughter of Frederick Henry Turnbull and Georgina Jones.
Rebecca, then aged nineteen years, married Jim Long, then aged 22 years, in the Roman Catholic Church in Zeehan, Tasmania. [1] The couple had five sons and three daughters. Jim was a member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly from 1903 to 1910, when he was elected to the Australian Senate.
After Jim left Parliament in 1918, the family moved to the Australian mainland, living in Victoria and New South Wales, before settling in Prahran, Victoria.
Aged 73 years and having been widowed for thirteen years, she passed away on 29th December 1945 at 107 Williams Road, Prahran, Victoria. [2] and was buried at Brighton General Cemetery in Caulfield South, Victoria. [3]
