Biography

In a book written by William S. Bryan and Robert Rose titled, Pioneer Families of Missouri, William Turner (1778-1876) and his wife Elizabeth Crooks (1785-1870) had fourteen children, one whose name was Catherine. It is believed she was born about 1823 in Madison County, Kentucky where the family lived at that time. No records have been found however confirming her birth date. It's possible that Catherine died as an infant and not included in the state's official records.

Below is an excerpt from the above mentioned book which lists the names of the Turner children:

William Turner, born January 1778, was the son of Thomas Turner, of Virginia, and Catharine Smith, of the same state, who settled on the Yadkin River, in North Carolina. William was a member of the Old Baptist Church for seventy-six years. Born in North Carolina, William went to Kentucky with his parents in 1790, where he married Elizabeth Crooks. In 1837 he settled in Boone Co., MO. where he resided until 1869, when he settled in Audrain County.

His children were Thomas, James, Clinton, John, Samuel, Silas, Mary, Lucinda, Nellie, Sarah, Margaret, Narcissa, Elizabeth and Catherine. Four of William's brother's , Smithton, James, John and Thomas settled in Boone County, Missouri.[1]
