Shipbuilder & sailing master of several. coastal vessels Flying Foam, after assisting father to build Alpha: explorer & surveyor a long North West Coast & inland from York, chiefly with F.Gregory 1861 & C. Hunt 1863- 66 (as 2nd in command). Had pearling interests. Family lived at Busselton, Perth & then Geraldton 1873- 1876, then at Fremantle.
