Across the River Nene cutting is the West Lighthouse later Guy's Head. My ancestor, Philip Turner and his family occupied the West lighthouse from c.1831 until about 1860. By 1851 Philip's brother, William Turner had moved to the East lighthouse together with his daughter,Ann and son John, the subject of your enquiry. Although my research has of course been mainly with my direct line I have more on the earlier Turners and on your John. By the way the lighthouses were never meant to warn shipping and had no flashing beam. 7 JAN 2011
