Reverend Patrick Arthur Turner, 58, of Orangefield died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Orangefield under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. The committal service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont. A Christian Vigil will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, April 1, at the church. Father Pat was a native of Beaumont and was ordained to the priesthood in 1972 by Bishop Warren L. Boudreaux. He completed his studies for the priesthood at the University Of St. Thomas and St. Mary's Seminary, both in Houston. His first assignment was as associate pastor at St. Charles Borromeo, Nederland followed by St. Anthony Cathedral, Beaumont; Immaculate Conception, Groves, and St. Mary, Port Arthur. His first pastorate was St. Helen to which he was named in 1980. He was named pastor of St. Louis, Winnie in 1987 and was pastor of St. Helen Catholic Church since 1997. He was Master of Ceremonies for the Diocese, a position to which he was appointed in 1987 and again in 1996. He was named Director of the Diocesan Office of Worship in 1996 and as such to the Liturgical Commission and the Commission for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Reverend Turner is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Turner Lowdermilk and her husband, Bob, of Wharton, Texas.
