Manerva Turner was born in 1853 in Alabama, her father, Nickolas, was 35 and her mother, Mary, was 23. She married Harvey L. Norwood on February 11, 1882, in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. They had five children in 10 years. She died on April 5, 1935, in Brookwood, Alabama, at the age of 82.
