Biography

Mary was born about 1841. She is the daughter of Mordecai Turner and Arthusa Hubbard. In 1850, the family was living and farming in Boone, Boone County, Missouri.[1] The family was still there in 1860.[2]

Mary married Richard Marion Flynt on 7 Jun 1860 in Boone County, Missouri.

For some reason, only Mary is shown in the 1870 census transcription, but the original shows her with Richard and several children living in Boone County, Missouri.[3]

In 1880, the couple and their six children were living in Rocky Fork, Boone, Missouri.[4] The household included:

  • R M Flynt Self M 43 Missouri, United States
  • Mollie Flynt Wife F 39 Missouri, United States
  • Wilmuth Flynt Daughter F 18 Missouri, United States
  • Joseph Flynt Son M 11 Missouri, United States
  • A J Flynt Daughter F 9 Missouri, United States
  • W R Flynt Son M 8 Missouri, United States
  • Albert Flynt Son M 5 Missouri, United States
  • Lena Flynt Daughter F 3 Missouri, United States
  • Mattie Hall Other F 19 Missouri, United States

They appear to have remained in Rocky Fork throughout the years, as Mary and Richard, along with daughter, Augusta, were enumerated there in 1900[5], 1910[6], and 1920[7]. By 1930, Mary was a widow and head of household with 59 year old Augusta living with her in Rocky Fork.[8].

Mary passed away in 1934. Burial was in the Mount Zion Church Methodist South Cemetery, Hallsville, Boone County, Missouri.[9]
