Edward was born in 1886,[1][2] the son of Levi Turner and Cordelia Mizer. He registered for the World War I Draft in Coshocton County on 5 June 1917,[3] giving his date of birth as 18 October 1887 (inconsistent with county birth record). The registration describes him as short and stout, with dark eyes and brown hair. He enrolled in the service (branch unknown) at Coshocton on 27 May 1918.[4] He served as a Private, HQ Co, 51st Infantry, and was discharged on 20 June 1919.[5]
Edward never married. He passed away in 1962[6] and is buried at Burkhardt Cemetery in Coshocton County, Ohio.[7]
Research Notes and Inconsistencies
Edward's grave marker shows a birth date of 1887, which differs from both his county birth record and the 1900 Census. His World War I Draft Registration Card and military enrollment card, however, show DOB of 18 October 1887.
