Jack Turner was Killed in Action during World War I.

John Wilfrid Turner was born in Tea Tree Gully in 1893 to John Thomas Turner and Kate White[1]

Like other young farmers,John joined the Army on 14 April 1916 and embarked on 22 August 1916 with the 3/43 Infantry. He made the rank of Lance Corporal. He was wounded on 10 June 1917 in Belgium and died the next day. He was buried by RevJ.A.Lush. His body is now in the ANZAC Section Echelon[2]
