George Turvey was born in 1848 in Strangways, Victoria, Australia, son of Sarah Wyton (Stuchberry) Turvey and John Turvey.^{[citation needed]}

He married Edith Locker in 1874 at 'Poplar Grange' in Strangways.^[1] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}

• George Herbert Turvey (1875–1875)
• Thomas Guy Turvey (1876–1896)
• Fred George Jacob Turvey (1880–1972)
• George Edgar Turvey (1885–1960)
• Charles Leslie Turvey (1889–1914)

George died on 31 July 1936 in Castlemaine, Victoria, aged 87 years.^[2]
