Biography

Joanna Twining was born about 1657. She married Thomas Bills on 2 May 1676, following the 1675 death of her sister Anna, Thomas' first wife.[1] She passed away on 4 Jun 1723.

  1. Nathaneel borne the 25th day of June in the year 1677
  2. Mercy borne the fourtenth day of aprill 1679
  3. Mehitable was borne the 26th day of March 1681
  4. Thomas was borne 22nd day of March 1684
  5. Gershom was borne the fifth day of June in 1686
  6. Joanna was borne the second day of December in the year 1688

Anna and Joanna Twining were sisters. Both were married to Thomas Bills. They are not the same person.

See Bills-25 for newly added primary sources for Joanna and her sister Anna marriages to Thomas Bills. If there is newer research showing these are not two different people, please let me know the sources so profiles can be corrected.

According to Shotwell's Genealogical Annals of Our Colonial Ancestors death date for Joanna Twining Bills was 4 Jun 1723 in Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., New Jersey (not 1675 in Barnstable). Her sister Anna died 1 Sep 1675 (and was the first wife of Thomas Bills).
