Biography

Edward was the son of William Twopeny and Charlotte Soan. He was baptised at St Margaret's, Rochester, Kent on 6 March 1765.^[1]

Edward married Susanna Jones on 14 November 1793 at St Margaret's, Rochester, Kent.^[2] They had at least the following children:

• Edward, baptised at St Margaret's, Rochester, Kent on 21 January 1795 with his birth date given as 13 December 1794.^[3]
• Susanna, recorded as 74 in the 1871 census^[4]
• William, baptised at St Margaret's, Rochester, Kent on 20 December 1797, with his birth date given as 13 November 1797.^[5]
• Charlotte, recorded as 70 in the 1871 census ^[6]
• David, baptised at Rochester, Kent on 12 January 1803^[7]
• Catharine, baptised at St Margaret's, Rochester, Kent on 7 May 1807^[8]
• Richard, baptised at St Margaret's, Rochester, Kent on 11 June 1809^[9]

His wife was called Susanna in his son David's 1803 baptism record, which records him as armiger.^[10]

Edward's Will, dated 24 August 1807, was proved on 13 November 1809 with his residence given as Rochester, Kent. In it he asks to be buried at as little expense as possible, and appoints wife Susannah as executor and guardian of his children: on her death his brothers William and Richard are to become guardians. The children are not named. Susanna was his sole heir.^[11] The full text of the will is here.
