Charles Grant Tyler was born circa 1936 at Illinois, USA. He appeared on the census of 27 April 1940 in the household of his parents, Virgil Theodore Tyler and Gladys A. (Straight) Tyler, at 442 Chicago Ave., Savanna, Carroll County, Illinois.[1]
Charles "Chuck" Tyler was very funny and always had a joke to tell. He was a submarine man in the U.S. Navy and one of the subs he served on was the older U.S.S. Kamehameha. Coincidentally, a few years before I met Chuck, I was making a visit to Pearl Harbor during a deployment to Hickam AFB. Two sailors invited me and a couple of my USAF colleagues to tour the USS Kamehameha. When Chuck told me in later years that he had served aboard that very vessel we were quite amazed!
