He made and signed his Will on 5 March 1788, it was Probated or proved on 28 June 1790. Probate is not done until after a person dies, therefore Dudley died sometime after he wrote his Will and before his Probate.

Dudley, who, in the famous Brocklebank mansion, of Georgetown, Massachusetts, became the first Tyler innkeeper: Willard I. Tyler Brigham, Esq., Official Report of the First American Tyler Family Reunion held at North Andover, Mass., Wed. Sept. 2, 1896 (Chicago, Ill., 1897), page 42.
