Amos was born in 1769. He was the son of Bezaleel Tyler and Sarah Calkins. He never married. He passed away in 1851. [1]
Amos served as captain in the war of 1812. He was about ten years old at the time his brother Capt Bezaleel Tyler was killed. He told the story, when they first got news the Indians were coming upon them, they had not time to get together the things they needed for their journey. They were living on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware about 4 miles above Cochecton Falls. on a piece of land since owned by a man named Simeon Bush, later owned byhis grandson. Here they crossed the river at the foot of what is called Plum Island and marched up the mountain ~~ from Sheila S.
