Biography

1771: John Tyler was baptised on 7-Apr-1771 in Attercliffe, Yorkshire [1], the fourth of at least five children of James Tyler and Bridgett Hatfield (the other children being born William 1762, Ann 1763, Penelope 1765 and Elizabeth 1772). James and Bridgett were married in Cathedral St Peter, Sheffield on Christmas day, 1761 [2]. James' background is unknown. Bridgett was born in 1737 to Godfrey and Sarah Hatfield in Stavely, Derbyshire [3] (about 12 miles south of Sheffield).

1795: Like his parents, John was married on Christmas day in Cathedral St Peter, Sheffield - in 1795, to Ann Bagshaw [4]. Ann was likely born ~1773 (from her age when she died) but no other details have yet been found. Only two children to John and Ann have been identified: Elizabeth in 1797 and Sarah in 1803 [5]

1834: In 1834 John and Ann's daughter Sarah was married in Burnley, Lancashire, with the marriage record showing that she was of that parish. Given that both John and Ann were both buried in Burnley, it is likely the whole family moved to Burnley at some point between 1803 and 1834.

1837: John died in Burnley and was buried St Peter's Church, Burnley, Lancashire on 6-Aug-1837, aged 66 [6].
