Selah (often Celia) Tyler was born in Windham Connecticut in 1767, the daughter of Zebulon Tyler and Betty Adams. She married Revolutionary War soldier Joseph Cheney in 1784. They had 11 children during their marriage. She died in 1823, leaving Joseph a widower until his death 8 years later.
