When Edward "Ned" Tyler was born on January 17, 1767, in Berkeley, Virginia, his father, Edward, was 47 and his mother, Nancy, was 35. He married Nancy Ann Hughes on December 29, 1788, in Jefferson, Kentucky.[1] They had 11 children:

  • Elizabeth (1791–1833)
  • Edward (1794–1822)
  • Mary "Polly" (1796–1841)
  • Isaac Hughes (1798–1829)
  • Nelly (1800–1802)
  • Samuel (1803–1823)

  • John William (1807–1854)
  • Charles Polk (1811–1835)

Ann died in 1817 and Ned died on March 25, 1840, in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, at the age of 73, and was buried there.[2]
