Research Notes

Two Harleian Society volumes of Lincolnshire pedigrees state that Troth Tyrwhitt married William Mallory after the death of her first husband Godfrey Foljambe.[1] If so, she would have been William's second wife. There is some support for this marriage in a Cecil Papers entry for about July 1602, which refers to a Lady Mallory who was in possession of Aldwark by right of dowry from her late husband, Sir Godfrey Foljambe.[2] William's will, though, was not revised to take account of a second marriage.[3][4] Douglas Richardson does not mention Troth as a wife of William Mallory.[5][6] She has been attached to William but the relationship is not wholly certain.
