Mary was born in 1912. She is the daughter of Ernest Tyson and Susan Creighton. She married Maston Emmett O'Neal Jr.[1]

Services Friday for Mrs. O'Neal
Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church here, Friday, at two, for Mrs. Maston E. O'Neal, Jr., 62, who passed away at Emory University Hospital, Decatur, Georgia early Christmas morning [December 25, 1974] after an illness of several months duration.
Born in Americus, Georgia on June 20, 1912, the deceased was the daughter of the late Ernest J. Tyson and the late Mrs. Susan Irene Creighton Tyson, and moved to Bainbridge with her family 46 years ago[1928].
Charlotte Tyson O'Neal was a member of the 1929 graduating class of Bainbridge High School and was married to Maston E. O'Neal, Jr. on June 4, 1934.
She was active in the civic, social, political and religious life of this community. She was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church, and served as a former trustee of the Bainbridge Public Schools, and as a working member of the Parent Teachers Assoc. She was also very active in Girl Scout work and was always intensely interested in youth programs in the city.
When her husband was elected to Congress from the Second District in 1964, and during his tenure of service in Washington, she was elected an officer of the Congressional Club of Washington, and was also a member of the Congressional Wives Prayer Group
.
She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Jerry M. Bowden of Roswell, Ga.; and one son, Captain Maston E. O'Neal III of the U.S. Air Force. One brother, George R. Tyson of Bainbridge and one sister, Mrs. . M. Spadafore of Miami, Fla., also survive her.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Keith Hill, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, and interment followed in Oak City Cemetery with Cox Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers were Mayo L. Livingston, Jr., John Simmons, Vance Custer, Jr., Henry Metcalf, Sam Griffin, E. J. Perry, III, Clayton Penhallegon and Stuart McKenzie, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were: Joe Higdon, Bill Bryan, Bobby Higdon, Clarke Gurley, Dr. J. W. Nichols, E. S. Parker, H. H. Pelty, Allen Raimsey, Herbert Nussbaum, Bernard Nussbaum, Melvin Nussbaum, G. R. Pirrung, Tommy Wester, Baxter Williams, Kenneth Penhallegon, Milton Woodbury, Joe Grollman, Roland Bolton, David Bryan, Sr., Sam Pettyjohn, Winston Bush, Wallace Cato, Robert E. L. Culpepper and Donald Wakeford.
Her grave is inscribed: For 40 Year The Dearly Beloved Wife Of Maston Emmett O'Neal Jr., "Many women have done excellently, but you have surpassed them all" Proverbs 31:29.[2]
