Biography

So far, the only record found for Isabelle is her will, which was written in Glemsford, Suffolk, England in 1516.^[1] From it and from the will of her husband John Strutt,^[1] the following may be surmised:

John Strutt was a smith and had a shop with "stuff therin belonginge to Smythscrafte." He also owned a few tenements in Glemsford, Cavendish, and Sudbury.

John Strutt married Isabelle and they had the following children:

• Thomas, married Johane
• John, alive in 1516
• Robert, alive in 1523
• Elizabeth, married Thomas Ellice, alive in 1526
• Alice, died before 1516, married --- Bigg
• Katherine, alive in 1516
• Margery, alive in 1516

Isabelle wrote her will 22 sep 1526. She used the name Elizabeth at this time. Her will was proved 13 nov 1526. In it she left legacies to:

• daughter Elizabeth Ellice
• son Thomas Strutt
