René Regnault / Renault was the father of Mathurin Renault / Regnault / Renaud who was born by about 1601 and was from Rosnay, Poitou (today Vendée), France - suggesting that René was likely born by about 1580, presumably in Poitou or nearby, and potentially at Rosnay. René's wife (Mathurin's mother) has not yet been identified - but by 1625 the family was apparently living in Ars, a community on the Île de Ré, in Aunis (today Charente-Maritime), since René was buried there on 26 Sep 1625.
