Alice died on 27 March 1426.[1][2] She requested burial in the nave of the church of Newnham Monastery beside her 5th husband.
Her heir was her grand son William.[1][2]
Alice outlived five husbands:
The peerage gives her first daughter, Elizabeth's details as follows: "Elizabeth FitzRoger was born in 1370. She was the daughter of John FitzRoger and Alice Cheddar. She married John Bonville, son of Sir William Bonville and Alice (?). She married Richard Stuckley, son of John Styeucle and Agnes (?). She died on 18 April 1414"[4] It cites The Complete Peerage as its source [5]
Magna Carta Ancestry[6] says that she married John FitzRoger before the 26 April 1369 (therefore her birth date must be before 1354). It goes on to say that her second husband was Edmond de Clyvedon, Sherrif of Somerset and Dorset, son of John de Clyvedon of Clyvedon, Somerset. They had no children. Edmund died 16 January 1375/6. Alice then married Ralph Carminowe some time before 18 November 1383 but with a will dated 1 January 1887. She then married Sir John Rodney who died 19 December 1400. Before 6 June 1402 she married Sir William Bonville. She was his second wife. Sir William died 11 February 1408 with a will dated 14 August 1407. Alice finally died 17 March 1426. She was buried at Newnham Abbey. Devon.
Her daughter by Ralph Carminowe, Alice, is mentioned in Ralph's Will [7] "to Alice my daughter, ten marks".
The Calendar of Rolls [8] relays how she had a child, Elizabeth, by FitzRoger. That she married Ralph Carminowe and her daughter Elizabeth married John Boneville
While the Peerage and a number of online pedigrees refer to her as Alice Cheddar the surname may come from Katherine Cheddar who some believe to have been the first wife of Sir John Rodney. Katherine is thought to have been the daughter of Robert Cheddar of Bristol, possibly[9] However, complicating things still further, Egerton Brydges believes Katherine was the wife of Sir John Rodney's father Thomas[10]
