August Gustav Uecker was born in Basel, Basel, Switzerland on 15 Apr 1902.[1]
It is very likely that he was the "Gus" Uecker that married Sue and emigrated to the United States, settling in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. Gus was a tool and die maker and had played soccer in Switzerland. They had one son, future baseball player and announcer Robert George "Bob" Uecker (b. 26 Jan 1934 in Milwaukee), and two daughters.[2] In 1962, Gus had circulatory issues in his legs and had them amputated. He passed away a few years after.[3]
August Gustav Uecker passed away 2 Oct 1968 in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin with his last residence being Menomonee Falls (53051).[4] According to his grave, he had married a Mary C. Schultz (b. 23 Jan 1911 Macomb County, Michigan, d. 15 Sep 1983 Utica, Michigan) which may have been a second wife after Sue. After Gus died in 1968, Mary moved back to her birthplace. They are both buried in Holy Cross Mausoleum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.[1]
