CHRISTOPHER UHLER, Son of Anastasius, took the oath of allegiance to the United States before Esquire Thome, May 30, 1778. In the assessment rolls for 1780 he is rated with 185 acres of land.
In 1779 he served as Tax Assessor; as taxes were then enormously high, owing to the Revolution, coiitemporary history does not speak too kindly of him.
He was one of the Commissioners of Dauphin county, which included the territory of Lebanon, for the years 1785, 1786, 1789 and 1790, and a captain of militia from 1785 to 1788. The Salem Lutheran and First Reformed churches were built by him.
