Immigration

Christian and his family immigrated from Russia to the United States in 1904.

"Christian and his family left Bremen on 23 Feb 1904 for America on board the Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse. They arrived in New York on March 1, 1904 at 10 30 a.m. From Bremen, Germany they sailed to Cherborg, France to pick up other passengers, they left Cherborg on 24 Feb 1904."[9]

" Christian Ulrich and his wife Luisa on the Passenger list of the Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse for the arrival at the Port of New York on March 2, 1904 (Vol. 818, N-14, line 12, 1 page). It shows that they were 22 years old, of Russian nationality, and that Christian was a farmer. Their last residence was Arcis and they were going to join a friend in Kulm, North Dakota." [10]

In the United States

In 1907 Christian and his family moved to New-Leipiz, North Dakota and homesteaded there[11]

In 1910, Christian and Anna L. were living in Township 135, Morton, North Dakota, United States. Also living with them are their children: Reinhold, Martin and Gottfried.[12]

In 1921, Christian and Anna Louisa moved to to live with their daughter, Mrs. Gottfried Bader[13]

In 1930, Christian, age 78, and Anna Louisa age 78, continued to live in Township 135, Grant, North Dakota, United States.[14]

Christian's wife, Anna Louisa, passed away in 1931. [15]

Death

Christian moved to Missoula, Montana to live with his son, Frederich Ulrich. [16]

Christian passed away on September 17, 1936 in Missoula, Missoula County, Montana, USA. [17]

He died of a stroke at age 84 years, 3 months, 27 days [18]

Christian was buried on 22 September 1936 in the Missoula Cemetery, Missoula, Missoula County, Montana, USA.[19] [20]

Christian Ulrich was born 21 May 1852 in the colony of Alt-Arzis, S. Russia and died 17 Sept 1936 about 6:45 a. m. His father was also Christian Ulrich and his mother was Karoline (Löffelbein) Ulrich. The parents dedicated him to the Lord through baptism and confirmation. He was saved at age 27. He and Anna Louise Iszler were married. She died in 1931. The marriage was blessed with 12 children. They came to America in 1904 and settled at Kulm, ND. Three years later they moved to Neu-Leipzig where they had a homestead. In 1921 he move to his daughter's Mrs. Gottfried Bader where he stayed 9 years. After the death of his wife he went to his son's Friedrich Ulrich in Missoula, MT where he resided until his death. A stroke hastened the end of his earthly course. He is survived by 8 children, Mrs. Johann Birch, Missoula, MT, Christian, Russia, Mrs. Henry Blum, Toppenish, WA, Friedrich Ulrich, Mrs Gottfried Bader, Missoula, Reinhold Ulrich Lodi, CA, Martin Ulrich, Hebron, ND and Gottfried Urlrich Missoula, 53 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 sister Minna Rothenberger, Walla Walla, WA. He reached the age of 84 years, 3 months and 27 days. Officiating at the funeral was C. A. Grunn, Missoula, MT. Submitted by Pastor G. Keppler, Wapato, WA. Mr. Ulrich was a Congregationalist for 60 years...[21]

Ulrich Funeral To Be Held Today

Funeral services for Christian Ulrich will take place at the Stucky chapel at 2 o'clock this afternoon and burial will be in Missoula cemetery.

Pallbearers at the funeral will be Peter Glanz, Fred Glanz, Fred Moor, George Reich, Richard Andrew and Martin Sopman.

Mr. Ulrich, aged 84 years, died at the home of a son Frederick (sic) Ulrich 1401 Cooper street Thursday. He is survived by four sons, three daughters and a brother.[22] 21 Sep 1936, Mon • Page 10
