Unfortunately no source cited for this and search of newspapes.com and genealogybank have not been successful. Transcription noted: "Rev. J.S. Underhill of Nevada, MO, departed this lief Oct. 24, 1897. He was born in Ohio, March 31, 1847, and his parents removed to Illinois when he was small, where they now reside. He was married twice. By the first marriage there were six children born, all of whom are living, and by the second marriage one which preceded him to the better world. About thirth years ago he was class leader in the M.E. Church and he has been proclaiming the word of his Lord and Master about fourteen years. His last words were "i'm going home to die no more" He was unconscious from Friday evening until the hour of his death. "He was an affectionate husband , a fond and a trusty friend and will long be remembered for his many kindnesses by a host of loving friends who mourn his loss."
