Mary was born in 1712. She is the daughter of Alexander Underwood and Mary Harris. The daughter of Reverend Alexander & Jane (Harry/Harris) Underwood of Chester Co PA, Mary married Thomas Cooke in Sep 1730, the son of the late Peter Cooke & Eleanor (Norman) Cooke of Cheshire England. They married at London Grove Quaker Meeting House in Chester Co PA. Mary was pregnant when she married Thomas. She passed away in 1794. [1]
9-28-1730 - Wm. Swaine gives account yt he and Thos: "Speakman was with Thos. Cooke and Alexander Underwood's Daughter and yt they seem sorry for what they have done and this meeting is informed that they are marryed."
10-26-1730 - Joseph Pennock reports that "he and William Swaine were with Thomas Cooke and wife and he appeared here with acknowledgement: Joseph Pennock to see it read at Londongrove."
12-27-1730/31: "The Women's meeting have sent in a paper to this meeting from under ye hand of Mary Cooke, condemning her evil actions. William Swaine to read at London Grove." (A descendant, Bonnie's daughter, 2014)

Mary (Underwood) Cook is mentioned on 27 May 1758 in the meeting minutes of New Garden: "Mary, widow late of Pennsylvania, reported married to Joseph Wels (Wells) of Cane Creek."
On 1 Jul 1758, Mary Wells and her children, Isaac Cook, Mary Cook and Thomas Cook, were all received at Cane Creek Monthly Meeting from the New Garden Meeting.
