Biography

Jonathan Underwood died young.

Jonathan was born in March 1867. He was the 6th child and 4th son of Jonathan Underwood and Elizabeth Langshaw. His family were living at 2 Atherton's Yard, Hallgate, Wigan at the time of his birth. His tragically short life was described as lasting 1/4 of an hour in the church burial register and 1 and a 1/2 minutes in the cemetery record. It must have been a devastating time for his family who had lost a daughter just 12 months previously and another in 1861. Jonathan's burial service was held at All Saints Church, Wigan and he was interred in public C of E plot no. K269 at Lower Ince Cemetery.
