Biography

Richard was born about 1802 in Union County, SC. He moved to Pickens Co. along with his father and married there about 1827. Richard and his wife, Elizabeth, had eight children: Mary C, Robert, Matilda, Frances, Martha J., Louisa M., George P., and Anna (Laney). Richard died after the 1880 census. The 1882 Kyzer map of Greenville Co. shows R. Underwood on the western edge of Saluda Township between John Cox and John Lemon.[1]
