Served as corporal in battery "B" of U.S. Army's 338th field artillery in France in World War I. Worked with father in hardware and lumber business 1920-1936, independently after 1936. Member Harrison city council, American legion, municipal band, commercial club, volunteer fire department, and Methodist church. In 1940 moved with family to Loveland, CO, then in 1943 to San Diego. Worked as a bookkeeper for an auto-supply business in San Diego.
