Biography

About 1626 she married in England to Richard AUSTIN, Jr. & they had 2 sons ...

- Richard AUSTIN, III b=15 Nov 1632 Bishopstoke, Hampshire, England d=15 Aug 1703 Charlestown, Suffolk Co, MA

- Anthony AUSTIN b=1636 Bishopstoke, Hampshire, England d=22 Aug 1708 Suffield, Hampshire Co, MA.

In April 1638 their family set sail from Southampton, England aboard the ship 'Bevis' for America. The ship manifest listed Richard Jr. as a tailor from "Bishopstocke" (also known as Bishop Stoke), traveling with his wife & 2 children.

On 16 May 1638 they landed in Boston Harbor, MA.

Shortly after their arrival, Richard;s brother-in-law, Edmund LITTLEFIELD (m=Agnes AUSTIN) "broke from his congregation" to then settle in Exeter, New Hampshire",

Research Notes

Her maiden surname is still unknown but it was not LITTLEFIELD ... that was an incorrect assumption by a modern researcher. The error occurred because her husband Richard AUSTIN had a brother-in-law surnamed LITTLEFIELD & it was erroneously assumed that he was the brother of Richard's wife, when in fact Edmund LITTLEFIELD was Richard's brother-in-law because Edmund had married Richard's sister Agnes AUSTIN.

      • There is a Richard Austin , born 1598 also from Bishopstoke that left Southampton 02 May 1638 on the ship " Themselves" with his wife and 2 children.[1]

Possible last name for Elizabeth could be Ayres, Airs. A marriage record for 1626 has a Richard Austin marrying a Eliz Ayres.[citation needed]

Andrews-10846 and Unknown-13484 appear to represent the same person because: No sources attached, same vitals, same husband, merge into Unknown.

Please double check to make sure this person should be linked to Richard Austin as spouse. It does not seem that the info about their children are the same. Also, this person has two Robert's as sons. Could they be one and the same? Thanks for checking.

Littlefield-652 and Unknown-13484 appear to represent the same person because: same person married to same husband. Her maiden surname is unknown. Please see note how LITTLEFIELD was NOT her maiden surname ... it was her brother-in-law's surname.

follow up to previous comment: LITTLEFIELD was not her maiden surname. Edmund LITTLEFIELD was Richard AUSTIN's brother-in-law because he had married Richard's sister Agnes AUSTIN. This is shown in the wikipedia source under the #10 link. LITTLEFIELD had no blood relation to Richard's wife Elizabeth (of unknown maiden surname).

According to this profile, Richard was both her brother and her husband. Is this correct, or should she be unlinked from Richard's parents (different last name)?

Littlefield-652 and Unknown-183564 are not ready to be merged because: I found and updated Austin-755 with her correct last name at birth, Littlefield, ref.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Austin_(colonist). This has been merged into Littlefield-652. The last name at birth on Unknown-18364 needs to be changed to Littlefield in order for the merge to continue.
