Biography

Lessie was born about 1914. ... She passed away in 2000. [1]

She was the daughter of Richard and Charlotte Williams. The 1930 Census lists 15 year-old Lessie in their home in Blackwater, Prince George County, Virginia.[2]

Mrs. Boyette's obituary in The Hopewell News read:

Lessie Williams Boyette, age 85, of 100 S. Kippax St., Apt 211, Hopewell, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at Southside Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Boyette was born in Prince George County June 24, 1914. and came to live in Hopewell in 1968. She was the widow of Walter Lemuel Boyette and a native of Isle of Wight County. She was the daughter of the late Richard (Hooks) and Charlotte (Lottie) Elizabeth Williams of Prince George County. She was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church since 1953. Surviving are three daughters: Ruth Bryant Snowdy of Ladysmith, Va., Naomi Boyette Jenkins of Colonial Heights, and Rachel Boyette Rollins of Hopewell; five sons: Mills D. Boyette of Disputanta, Joseph L. Boyette of Petersburg, Jacob W. Boyette and Richard S. Boyette Sr. of Hopewell, and Emmett C. Bryant Jr. of Chester; 15 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren; and two nieces. There are also five daughters and two sons of Mr. Boyette surviving which are Mrs. Boyette's stepchildren, as follows: Paul A. Boyette of Warm Springs, Va., David C. Boyette of Hopewell, Sarah Boyette Whisenant of Hopewell. Clara Boyette Morse, Marian Boyette Campbell. Magdalene (Boo) Boyette Jones and Doris Boyette Shields, all of Hopewell, along with a large number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her step- daughter, Gladys Boyette Forehand. The family received friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Gould Funeral Home, where services were to be held at 11 a.m. .today. The Rev. E. Cecil Smith, former pastor of the Hopewell funeral home F.C.C. Church, was to offici- ate, assisted by Rev, Wayne Marburger of Prince George C.C. Church.
