I've found a marriage record for John Taylor and an Eliza Phillips in Columbia Co, Georgia for 1838. Not knowing if this is the correct John Taylor or correct Eliza, I have included here instead of in the sources.
Georgia, County Marriages, 1785-1950, database with images, FamilySearch, John Taylor and Eliza Philips, 01 Feb 1838; citing Marriage, Columbia, Georgia, United States, county courthouses, Georgia; FHL microfilm 598,994.
Also, please see the FindaGrave site for John G. Taylor, her husband. According to that, John G. Taylor is married to an Eliza Smart born in 1820. That date would correspond with the 1860 census, but not the 1850 or 1880 census.
