Susannah (Kendrew) Spark was born in Yorkshire, England.

Baptism

On 16 Mar 1780, Susannah daughter of John and Susannah Kendrew of Borrowby was baptised at Leake in the North Riding of Yorkshire. ^[1]

Marriage

On 26 Nov 1804 William Spark married Susannah Kendery (Hannah in the Bishop's Transcripts) at East Harlsey. ^[2] The Bishop's transcript clearly gives the bride's name as Hannah Kendery. ^[3]

Burial

On 18 Dec 1836 Susannah Spark, of Sadberge, age: 54 was buried at Sadberge, St Andrew. ^[4]

Research Notes

• It seems that John and Susannah Kendry/Kendray/Kendrew had several attempts at a daughter named Susannah. They baptised a Susannah in 1772, 1773, 1777 before this one in 1780. Their residence locations were all within 10 miles of East Harlsey where Susannah married William Spark.
• The only place where Susannah was recorded as Hannah was on the marriage record in the Bishop's Transcripts. The parish register marriage entry and the banns give her name as Susannah. Her own baptism and those of her children all used the forename of Susannah. Safe to say that the parish clerk made a transcription error when preparing the copy to be sent to the Bishop.
