Biography

She was born about 1800 in Hawaii. The royal family of Hawaii were not using surnames.

Chiefess Kipikane was the granddaughter of King Kamehameha I (d: 1819). [1] who had many wives.

Rachel Kipikane married about 1816 to John Palmer Parker (1790-1868). They were awarded two acres of land on the slopes of Mauna Kea where they built the homestead "Mana Hale". They had three children and began the Parker dynasty that would play a prominent role in the next two centuries of Hawaiian history. [1] [2]

She died on 10 Jan 1860 in Hanakua [3] and was buried at Mana Cemetery in Waimea, Hawaii County, Hawaii, USA. [4]

Lineage

According to the Hala ia Pua Alii Kamehameha (his Kamehameha Chiefly Offspring Is Gone) by Moses Keaulana (b: 1876), published in 1919.

"Kamehameha Paiea (The Conqueror) is the one who married Kauhilanimaka and [there] was born [to them] Kahiwa Kanekapolei in Hilo, Hawaii. [She] married Kahaaualani and [there] was born [to them] Kalamakuikeao Kaahiki and his sisters, the grandmothers of the Palmer Wood family, Eben Low, the Purdy family, and the family of Samuel Parker".
