Biography

Mary (Marie) Unknown was born about 1605 in England or Ireland. Her background is not known. Her first husband, John Poulter, who died in 1654 prior to her leaving England included in his will a bequest to Marie Pope, described as his mother-in-law. This suggests that Mary's birth name may have been Pope.

She was married three times: First to John Poulter, of Raleigh, Essex, England, who died in 1654, second to John Parker, who died June 14, 1667 in Billerica, Middlesex, Massachusetts and third to Thomas Chamberlain of Chelmsford, Middlesex, Massachusetts , April 17, 1674.

After her first husband's death in 1654, , Mary and her two children - Elizabeth Poulter and John Poulter- left England for the Province of Massachusetts Bay.

Mary died February 8, 1692/3 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts She was 88 years old.

Jackson-10093 and Unknown-434516 do not represent the same person because: These are totally different people - different names, different locations, different time period . Did proposer get incorrect profile numbers?

Jackson-10093 and Unknown-434516 appear to represent the same person because: Same husband (whose profiles were just merged). Picking "Unknown" as the last name at birth because Jackson is the husband's last name.

Howard, would you like to update this biography using the sources provided? Please?

I noted that the other two profile managers haven't been involved with wikitree for sometime.

I do not believe this profile should be in the Puritan Great Migration Project.

Her 1st husband's will was probated in England in 1639, Mary being executrix. Dawes Gates on p. 499 of Vol. 1 says that she and 2 children migrated before 1654, in which year she married Jonathan Danforth..

I will remove reference to pgm project.

Any substantive basis for her LNAB being "Pope?"

Both of the sources I have added say there is no basis for the name. Check it out... see links on sources for ease in researching.

Although Marie Pope, mother-in-law, is beneficiary in the will of John Poulter, nothing has been found that shows the husband "Pope" as the father. He may have been a 2nd husband of the immigrant's mother. (I hope I explained that ok...understandably.)

Pope-830 and Pope-309 appear to represent the same person because: Same husbands, dates are very close
