Biography

Ann, last name unknown, was possibly born circa 1640 in Lancashire, England [1].

She married James Bowling in about 1658, possibly in Lacashire, England before moving with him to Maryland, British Colonial America in 1659. They settled in Boarman’s Manor, now known as Charles, Maryland. James and Ann had no children [2][3].

It is not known if they already knew each other previous to James moving to Maryland, British Colonial America, and where he established himself, before 1658 [3].

It is not known when Ann died, but it is assumed she died quite a time before 7 May 1692 in Maryland, British Colonial America [4], because James had married Mary Brooke before he wrote his Last Will & Testament on that date [5] as his second wife was named as Executrix and a beneficiary .

  3. 3.0 3.1 “The Bowlings of Boarman’s Manor" Jeffrey Wills, Bowling family historian, tells us that the records of early Maryland give evidence of the Bowling family starting with James Bowling (1636-1693) who arrived in the province sometime before 1658. The Bowlings became associated with other Catholics who eventually settled on Boarman’s Manor in what is now Charles County, Maryland. James had no children from his two marriages, but his will makes clear that there were descendants from his siblings, John (died 1684), Thomas (died 1700) and Elizabeth who married Thomas Speake.---He returned to England where married his first wife Ann in about 1658 in before moving her to Maryland, British Colonial America in 1659.
