Biography
Constance Maud Jeary (aka Maud Constance Jeary) was born on 29 May 1878 in Stalham, Norfolk, England to Harriet Jeary. Her birth was registered in Smallburgh, Norfolk in the third quarter of the year, with no mother's maiden name (indicating an unmarried mother).[1]
Constance Maud Jeary, born 29 May 1878, illegitimate daughter of Harriett Jeary, a single woman, residing at Stalham, was christened on 21 Sep 1879 in Stalham.[2]
In 1881 Maude Jeary (age 2) lived in Stalham with her grandfather Edwin (54, Farm Labourer), grandmother Harriet (56), uncle Edwin H (11, Scholar), and boarder William Smith (26, Fisherman).[3] Maude's mother "Hariot Jary" (27, Gen Servant Dom) lived in the household of her employer in Horstead, Norfolk.
In 1891 Maud Jeary (age 12, Scholar) lived at 8 Suttons Terrace in Stalham with her grandfather Edwin (63, Driver of Thrashing Machine), grandmother Harriet (64), and cousin Daisy (4).[4] Maud's mother Harriett Jeary (37, Cook) was living in the household of her employer at the Rectory in Burgate, Suffolk.
In 1901 Maud Leary [Jeary] (age 22, Domestic Servant) lived at 2 Sprowston Road "New Catton" in Norwich, Norfolk in the household of her employer Walter G Crotch.[5]
Maude Constance Jeary married Alfred Steward in 1904. The marriage was registered in Norwich, Norfolk in the first quarter of the year.[6]
In 1911 Maude Steward (age 32) lived at 77 Shipstone Road in Norwich with her husband Alfred (27, Labourer for Wine Merchant) and four children: Maude (6), Daisy (5), Alfred (4), and William (1), as well as visitor [Maude's mother] Harriet Jeary (58, Cook) - Maude & Alfred had been married 7 years and 4 children had been born in the marriage.[7]
Maud's husband passed away in 1932.
In 1939 Constance M Steward (born in 1878) lived at 52 Shipstone Road in Norwich - also at the same address were two of her daughters: Gertrude M Steward, later Hawkins (1913) and Doris M Steward (1920).[8]
Constance Maud Steward, born 29 May 1878, passed away in 1976 - her death was registered in Norwich in the first quarter of the year.[9]
