This Deborah Buell has been detached from incorrect parents Samuel Buel and Deborah Griswold. They already have a well-documented daughter with the same name who married Nathaniel Porter, and their daughter cannot be this Deborah Buell who married Simon Newcomb. That Deborah Buell died in 1710. This Deborah Newconb died in 1756.
Biography
Some genealogies show her as Deborah Lathrop, daughter of Samuel Lothrop and Elizabeth Scudder. Others show her as daughter of Samuel Buell and Deborah Griswold. The Newcomb Family Association[1] follows the work of John Bearse Newcomb, which regards her last name as Unknown. If there is any other supporting evidence of her birth name or family tree, even if disputed or circumstantial or uncertain, please add it here.
Samuel Lothrop alleged father died 1700. His probate named no daughter Deborah.
Her grave says: "Died in hope of Eternal life thro ye mercy of ye Lord Jesus June ye 17 1756 in the 92 year of her age", meaning she was born between June 1664 and June 1665.[2]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Deborah by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Deborah:
Lathrop-302 and Unknown-476023 are not ready to be merged because: I know these are the same person, married to Simon Newcomb. The question is who her birth family is. I'm not profile manager to either but she is an ancestor of mine so I do care about it. Existing mangers need to sort this out, not leaving it hanging.
This is also a presidential ancestor so it needs to be sorted out properly.
Based on the documentation on this profile, it would seem that this person should be changed to last name at Birth of Unknown, as stated in the Newcomb genealogy, so that it will not have merge attempts with Buell-326
Buell-326 and Buell-108 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same birth date, same birth town. The text suggests they are the same. If there is proof that these are separate people, post the proof. If there is not, at least connect these two profiles showing some analysis.
Is there any actual evidence that it was Deborah Buell that Simon Newcomb married, rather than some other Deborah? I am new here, but on Ancestry.com I have seen a lot about Deborah Buell and a lot about Deborah Newcomb, and a lot of assertions that they are the same person, but all of the real sources are about one or the other, with no actual evidence that they are the same. Find A Grave #20965259 falls into this category.
Killingworth CT and Martha's Vineyard were not that close in the 1680s. Why wouldn't she find a husband closer to home?
Lathrop-302 and Buell-108 appear to represent the same person because: There is no evidence of a Deborah Lothrop, daughter of Samuel Lothrop and Elizabeth Scudder. She is most likely Deborah Buell a possible wife of Simon Newcomb (1666-1745). Note the identical death dates and location. Also, Findagrave.com #20965259 addresses this issue.
There is a source cited on this profile by simply "r212p7" ... could someone expand on that please? In its current format, it's not helpful to others who are not familiar with the notation.
According to this website: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/20965259/deborah-newcomb. her father is Samuel Lathrop, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lothrop-29 His second wife, Abigail Doane Lothrop, is buried next to him. But she is not the natural mother of Deborah because Deborah was born in 1664, well before Abigal's marriage in 1690. Deborah's natural mother is Elizabeth Scudder as already listed in https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Scudder-2
This is also a presidential ancestor so it needs to be sorted out properly.
