Biography

Johann Friedrich Baumgärtner aka Frederick Bumgarner named son Joel in his will (Orange County, Virginia Will Book 2: 94). Frederick's wife was named Catherine as evidenced in lawsuit (Orange County, Virginia Order Book 4: 280.). Catherine was also supposed to have been granted administration of Frederick's will from the will book (Ardys V. Hurt, "Johann Frederick Baumgardner," Beyond Germanna, 1, no. 5, (September 1989): 41-43).

Son Joel Bumgarner named his mother as Catron Deer in his will (Culpeper County, Virginia Will Book B: 111). (Catron is a variant spelling of Catharine - Not a surname as suggested by some)

John Deer names his "beloved wife Catharine" in his will (Culpeper County, Virginia Will Book B: 422-423).

There were only two men surnamed Deer (originally Hirsch in German) in the area at the time, Martin whose wives were named Pheronicka/Frances and Anna Maria and Johannes/John whose wife was named Catherine.

Hi again! Prob: My managed profile for Catherine Kettenring-285 has been improperly rejected as a match for your managed profile for Catherine, Unknown-145! Please re-initiate the merge if you can. Contact me if you have questions, or to let me know what you think. Thanx!
The match was most properly rejected due to lack of evidence. Your sources are all the FamilySearch tree ... which has her second husband as Johannes Jeremiah Hirsch. This was not his name! There are no original records that show his name as anything other than Johannes Hirsch / John Deer. There are no sources, particularly original records, for any of the information found on the FamilySearch tree. These things do not instill confidence in the information presented, especially when independent research does not verify it. The FamilySearch tree is crowdsourced, as is WikiTree. Some people swear by both but I have seen a lot of bad information along with the good so original source information is vital. You also have a fundamental misunderstanding of the name "Catron". It is NOT Catherine's surname. It is a variant of the name Catherine and comes from the will of her son Joel Bumgarner who names his mother "Catron Deer" (Culpeper County, Virginia Will Book B: 111). If you found the marriage record of Catherine to her first husband Johann Friedrich Baumgärtner in Schwaigern or that her father named her in his will, then this would be a completely different conversation.

I have new sources verifying the Kettenring LNAB for Catherine Catron-Kettenring (Baumgardner) (Deer) posted on comments section 0f Kettenrin-285, please take a look.
RE: Merge of Catherine Unknown (Baumgaertner) (Unknown-145) with Kettenring-285 & Catron-45:

Unknown-145 LNAB is definately Kettenring (Kettering) as she is the daughter of Christoff Kettenring, even though my source information is slim, (MyHeritage.com). Her mother is Barbara Worz (Kettenring) She was evidently married 4 times , married names: (Major), (Baumgardner-Baumgaertner), (Deer) I may have failed to mention Catron-45 before, but this person is also a match for Catherine. So now we have a Double-Merge! There is currently no profile MGR for Catron-45, which will simplify things. Note that Kettenring-285 has Burial location, FindAGrave Citation, Marriage Date, & some notes wich should be preserved in the merge. Thanx

Kettenring-285 and Unknown-145 appear to represent the same person because: Please agree to merge these duplicate profiles. Thanks!

There doesn't appear to be any evidence that her maiden name was Kettenring. If that's true, then the final profile should be Unknown-145.

Unknown-488455 and Unknown-145 appear to represent the same person because: Catherine was married first to Johann Friedrich Baumgärtner and second to Johannes Hirsch / John Deer.
