She may have accompanied her husband John Starling to Saint Helena, when he arrived in 1673 as there is no record of their marriage on the Island.
The book ' The Company’s Island: St Helena, Company Colonies and the Colonial Endeavour by Stephen A Royle' records:
1676 - Elizabeth Starling;
Notes - Elizabeth Starling offered to protitute herself beneath the "physick nutt trees" with gentlemen strangers, when her husband was away at the Fort, for which she appeared in court. There was no proof but she was ducked anayway. The un-named stranger had never met a more impudent person in his life.
The book 'Extracts from the St Helena Records, compiled by the late Hudson Ralph Janisch' records:
28 Jan 1684 - Elizabeth Starling, Nationality English;
Notes - Assaulted the Captain of the ship Charles 2nd, punished with 15 lashes on her naked body, & to be ducked 3 times.
10 Dec 1689 - Gunner Andrew Phillips married Widow Elizabeth Starling at St James.
