Biography

Elizabeth ______was born about 1582. No baptismal record has been found to determine the birth date, birth place, surname or parentage.

Elizabeth married Thomas Hassen about 1610 and they had five children during their marriage. (This marriage date is estimated from the birth of their first known child.)

The Hassen family moved to Grasby around 1618. By 1619, Elizabeth’s husband, Thomas Grant, was a church warden of the Grasby church.[1]

In the spring of 1628, Thomas became ill. His will, dated 15 May 1628, bequeathed som vof his sons 40 shillings (but some only 30 shillings). Almost everything else went to his wife Elizabeth, the sole executor of his estate.[1] Thomas died shortly after he wrote his will. From the Bishop’s Transcripts of Grasby, 1561-1700, transcribed by Tracy Eliot Hazen:

1628 Funera Thomas Hassen was buryed the 21 of May.

On 27 June 1630, Elizabeth married next widower Thomas Sewell at St. Mary Church in South Kelsey, Lincolnshire, England.[2] At this time, Elizabeth had three minor sons – Edward (age about 16), Robert (age about 13) and William (age about 8).

Disputed Death Date

Hazen states: “She probably married second, at South Kelsey, co. Lincoln, 27 June 1630, Thomas Sewell; and if so, was bur. at South Kelsey, 7 Apr. 1647.[1] According to the actual burial record, however, it was Elizabeth’s husband, Thomas Sewell, who was buried at South Kelsey on 7 April 1647.[3]

Unknown-614618 and Unknown-198178 appear to represent the same person because: While this profile has much more information and source data, the other profile is earlier and I'm told would normally be the resulting repository of a merger of both contents.

Elizabeth's spouse is different in each profile, but they are the same person and their profiles have already been proposed to be merged.

There's no evidence that Elizabeth, the wife of Thomas Hassen, is Mowry; I think she should be disconnected - Objections?
