Death Notice: New Zealand Herald, Issue 19152, 19 October 1926: "DEATHS - HANNAH - On October 18, 1925, at 9 Paget Street, Ponsonby, Ellen, wife of the late John McCulloch Hannah, and mother of the late Nell and William Hannah, and beloved mother of Hugh Hannah. The funeral will leave her late residence, 9 Paget Street, Ponsonby, at 2 p.m. to-day (Monday), for Waikaraka Cemetery".

In Memoriam Notice: Auckland Star, Issue 247, 18 October 1926: "IN MEMORIAM. HANNAH - in loving memory of my dear mother, Ellen Hannah, who passed away October 18, 1925. To-day brings sad memories of a loved one gone to rest. Inserted by her loving son, Hugh Hannah."
