Robert was baptised in Chewton Mendip on 11 April 1821.[1] The son of James Uphill and Charlotte Ashman
1841 - Nedge, Chewton Mendip. Robert has no profession listed, although he would be around 20 at this time. His father is a Smith.
6 December 1841 - marries Martha Weaver at St. Mary, Redcliffe, Bristol. Profession is given as Blacksmith. Witnesses are George Bryant and Elizabeth Palmer. [2]
1846 - the electoral register records Robert living in Nedge, Chewton Mendip. He has a freehold house, blacksmith shop and land.
1851 - Nedge, Chewton Mendip. Blacksmith. Living with wife Martha and their five children.
25 April 1853 - Robert dies. His death certificate records that he died of Scrofulous Disease (Tuberculosis of the lymph nodes, particularly of the neck) and that Martha was with him when he died.
Robert was buried at Chewton Mendip on 1 May 1853. [3]
