Mr. John Uprichard, an old resident of the Tallegalla district, passed away at the Ipswich Hospital on February 9. The late Mr. Uprichard, who was 75 years of age, was born at Myra, near Belfast, County Down, Ireland. He enlisted in the army, and served for six years, having been through the Soudan campaign under the late Lord Kitchener, and was in the battle of Tel-el-Kebir. At the age of 30 he came to Australia, and later was mar- ried to Miss Mary Esther Brindley, of Scotland, the marriage taking place at Toowong. Mr. and Mrs. Uprichard made their first home at Tallegalla. There they successfully carried on farming, and lived for 43 years. On account of his failing health Mr. Uprichard only recently disposed of his farm and came to reside in Rosewood. Besides his widow he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Walter Freeman (Kunkala) and four sons, Messrs. James (Forest Hill), Samuel (Toogoolawah), Robert (Rosewood), and John (Towns- ville). There are several grandchildren.
